God has greatly blessed the efforts toward expanding our facilities over the past few months. After receiving updated plans and cost estimates from Keller last June, the voters approved a budget in August to move forward with our project.
In September, we learned that Builders for Christ had accepted our project for their 2019 construction schedule. We anticipate they will provide “rough and finish” carpentry for the south (education) wing of our project, which will help reduce our costs, and should provide “know how” to help guide our own volunteers who want to help where they can.
The Building Committee continues to work with our design-build contractor, Keller, and our site engineer, Schuler, to refine the building and site plans. In October, we made a 5% down payment to Keller, authorizing them to develop final plans for State approval. A joint meeting with Keller and Builders for Christ is planned for December, to develop final project scoping prior to letting bids.
The Building Committee continues to reach out to WELS-affiliated subcontractors, and has provided Keller a draft list of subcontractors who we think will provide very competitive bids for the portion of work that Keller and Builders for Christ will not perform in-house. The schedule calls for Keller to solicit bids and provide us an updated proposal in January 2019.
In late April 2019, once we’ve had the opportunity to celebrate our Risen Savior during Easter, we plan to break ground on our project. Our goal is to complete construction by September 2019. After years of trying to discern the best path to expand Christ’s Kingdom here at Eternal Love, the path before us is becoming clearer. May God continue to bless our efforts as we strive to serve him with our time, talents, and treasures. What an exciting time for our congregation!
